If you’ve happened to stumble upon my music online and managed to find this website hiding in plain sight behind the firewalls known as “total obscurity,” then you are an intrepid digital explorer and I admire your grit. I say that jokingly because I don’t actively promote my website or music. Both are done more as hobbies and as forms of documenting/journaling various trips, experiences, and books I’m reading from year to year.

If you’ve taken a look at my music releases on Apple Music or other platforms, you might be wondering why I’ve released so much music in such a short time since the summer of 2022 (377 original songs as of the Summer of 2023, and many more being released as the years go on!).

About me:

I was born in Montana and grew up in California. I write and record American/’90s-influenced rock/alternative/singer-songwriter music with strong doses of electronic genres (influenced by Glitch Mob, Daft Punk, M83, Paul Oakenfold, Boys Noize, Com Truise, Big Black Delta, and others) — under the name “Kevin Ott” on music streaming platforms.

I also write and record electronic instrumental music under the artist name Lo-Flying Planets.

I’ve enjoyed doing occasional fundraisers through music over the years. For example, all music proceeds received during the “12 Days of Christmas” project (that began 12/25/2022 and ended 1/6/2023) went to charities helping families caught in the catastrophic famine in Africa (Self-Help Africa) and to the Navajo Water Project as Navajos in the United States grapple with an ongoing, urgent water crisis.

Writing music is a side joy and a mental health break when I’m not working my day job as a computer coder in higher education. I love to travel, explore nature, get lost in large museums and aquariums, and go on road trips with my family.

I’m also a writer of books on the side, and in 2016 I published a book with BroadStreet Publishing called Shadowlands and Songs of Light. In 2021, I began working on an epic novel that spans 2,050 years of history, will have 2,050 chapters and several hundred thousand words. This project will likely never be released or published publicly on this side of forever, but it is a wonderful spirit-nourishing hobby (as is music composition and sound engineering).
